    Sirsi: The house selected for Chief Minister H.D. Kumarswamy's stay on the night of May 7 is the house of Thimmanna Gouda at Tannirkuli village in Uttara Kannada district.

    Mr. Thimmanna Gouda belongs to the backward Halakki community. Most of the people of Halakki community are agricultural labourers.

    Tannirkuli village is 5 km from Kumta town. Most of the houses in the village have thatched roofs.

    There is acute drinking water problem in the village. Most of the houses have no power connection.

    The Chief Minister's visit to the village is likely to solve many long-pending problems, says Janata Dal (Secular) leader Dinakar Shetty Kumta.

    Mr. Thimmanna Gouda feels very happy to receive the Chief Minister. He has thanked the local Janata Dal (Secular) leaders for selecting his house for Mr. Kumaraswamy's stay. Along with him, the whole Halakki community, who are found mainly in Kumta, Ankola taluks and other places of Uttara Kannada district coastal belts are beaming with pride.

    A team of officials, including Zonal Commissioner Riteshkumar Singh have visited Tannirkuli and are monitoring works such as asphalting of the roads, cleaning the gutters, painting the house, constructing toilets for the Chief Minister and so on.
