`We live here and are also concerned about the problems faced by the State'

BANGALORE: A large number of IT professionals on Sunday staged a protest against the "biased" award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal. The IT professionals, who gathered near Mahatma Gandhi statue, looked worried over reports that they had no concern for the problems of the State.

"We live here and we are also concerned about the problems faced by the State. We supported the bandh called by Kannada organisations. Today, we have hit the streets to support the cause of farmers in the Cauvery delta who will be largely affected by the award," said M. Raghunandan Gowda.

The protesters under the banner of "IT Kannadigara Koota" shouted slogans against the attitude of the Union Government towards issues of the State.

The protesters also targeted the State Government for its silence after the tribunal verdict came out. "The prolonged silence only confirms the failure of the State ineffectiveness in properly presenting the case before the tribunal," said Kiran K.S. Gowda.
