HASSAN: Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) activists on Friday protested in front of the District Information and Publicity Office here against the statement made by Director, Department of Information and Public Relations, K.V. Ravindranath Tagore on Tuesday in favour of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal's judgement. They also locked the office. On receiving a complaint,Deputy Superintendent of Police Rudrappa and his staff rushed to the Information Office and got the lock removed. The agitators demanded that action be taken against the Information Director. They threatened to deface his portrait if he continued making such statements.
The vedike also took out a protest rally against the judgment of the tribunal. They began at Hemavathi Circle, went around the city and stopped in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office.
The protesters were joined by students from Suvarna Hotel Management College, who boycotted their classes. The students described the judgment as "unscientific" and against the State's interests.
They raised slogans against the Union and Tamil Nadu governments.
