MANGALORE: Children of a Mangalorean family settled in Houston, U.S., make one of the world's youngest group of violinists.
Michael (8), Daniel (7), Christine (5) and Marie (3) of the Abreo family can play violin with ease, solo and in a group.
And the compositions they choose are not commonly played by those of their age. Their father Gerard Abreo, a cardiologist in Houston, says that there is a concert in their house every day.
The children go through a rigorous practice session every day, and their mother Nicole who plays keyboard helps the children with their music.
Their grandfather Frank Lobo and his brother Gerald had initiated Michael into violin. Gerard is a drummer himself. The children gave a brilliant performance in Mangalore on Wednesday before a small group of music lovers.
They played ten numbers including compositions such as Minuet by Bach and Beethoven, Hunter's Chorus, Puppet Show and Peter Rabbit.
Michael, Daniel and Christina played Waltz Medoey with Gerard on the drums and Nicole on the keyboard.
