BANGALORE: Four persons were killed in as many road accidents in the city since Tuesday night. Among the victims was an engineer.

A Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus, bound for N.R. Colony from Kempe Gowda Bus Station, rammed two motorcycles while overtaking a vehicle near Ananda Rao Circle around 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday, the police said

One of the motorcycle riders, Shivashankar S. Hallur (25), was killed on the spot. A native of Dandeli in Uttara Kannada district, he was an electrical engineer with Bosch here. Manjunath, rider of the other motorcycle, was seriously injured.

The Upparpet traffic police have registered a case and arrested the bus driver. Traffic was affected at the busy Ananda Rao Circle for some time following the accident.

Mallesh (32), a cook and a resident of Channapatna in Bangalore Rural district, was killed after a goods transport vehicle hit his motorcycle at Kengeri Satellite Town around 10 p.m. on Tuesday. The Byatarayanapura traffic police have registered a case.

A water tanker hit two employees of a dhaba on the service road near Jakkur Aerodrome on Tuesday. While Jagadish Shetty (34) was killed instantaneously, his colleague R.T. Nayak suffered severe injuries. The Yelahanka traffic police have registered a case.

Motorcycle rider Mehaboob Pasha (22) was killed after he rammed a median on the Outer Ring Road near the Nagavara BESCOM office around 11.30 p.m. on Tuesday.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Jagadish (19), who was riding pillion, was injured. Pasha was a resident of Sanjaynagar and worked in a bicycle repair shop in Marathahalli. The Banaswadi police have registered a case.


The V Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court sentenced two persons to five years' imprisonment for looting a house in Kumaraswamy Layout police station limits.

Ramaswamy and Vadivelu had barged into a house in January 2003 and taken away valuables estimated at Rs. 1.48 lakh.
