BELLARY: M.B. Lakshminarayan, in-charge of Bellary's BJP district unit, called upon party workers to strive hard for the party's victory in the coming civic elections to ensure overall development of the district.

He was speaking at the preparatory meeting organised by the district unit of the BJP in view of the elections to municipal corporation, council and town panchayats at Raghava Kalamandir here on Tuesday.

The BJP could give importance to the development of the district, which was not seen during the regime of Congress for the last 50 years, he said.

B. Sriramulu, Minister for Tourism, said with the support of the party activists, BJP, which had no firm ground about five years back, had emerged powerful and it was with their blessing that he had become a minister.

He appealed to the party workers to continue to bestow their support to the party in the coming elections to the civic bodies.

G. Somashekar Reddy, president of the district unit, presided. M.S. Somalingappa, MLA; K.A. Ramalingappa, vice-president, zilla panchayat; Shivaram Reddy, former MLA; and Venkat Mahipal, were among others who spoke.

Durgamma, president, zilla panchayat, Sridhargadde Doddanagowda, Indra, Sadhna Hiremath and Mrutyunjaya Jinaga were among other leaders present.
