It will have artistes from the region in the castShooting from September 19; screen test this week
HUBLI: Film director Girish Kasaravalli’s next film, “Kanasemba Kudureyaneri”, produced by Basanthkumar Patil, will have mainly artistes from North Karnataka and will be shot at locations in the North Karnataka region.
And to select the artistes for playing various characters in the film, the director-producer team would conduct screen tests for artistes from the region at “Shivagiri Ashram” in Bijapur on September 5 and at Trupti International Hotel in Hubli on September 6.
Mr. Patil told presspersons here on Tuesday that the film would be predominantly shot in various locations in Bijapur and neighbouring districts. “The shooting for the film will start on September 19, and we plan to complete shooting in 30 days and send the film to the Censor Board in December,” he said.
Mr. Kasarvalli said the film was based on a short story from Amaresh Nugadoni’s anthology of short stories titled “Savari”. “Just as ‘Gulabi Talkies’, which was shot in the coastal region involving local artistes there, the new film, which has a story that takes shape in North Karnataka, will have artistes from the region,” he said.
He said the short story “Savari” has a mix of reality and myth, and naturally, the film would have a mix of both.
Mr. Amaresh Nugadoni said that his story narrates the fight of the exploited class against the feudal system.
