Chitradurga: Using crayons and pencils, 25 students from various schools of the district gave shape to their ideas on solid waste management and preventing environmental pollution.

The students were participating in a programme organised by the Chitradurga City Municipal Council to create awareness on solid waste management at the Ranga Mandira here on Wednesday.

It included a painting competition for students of classes five to seven, an essay contest for students of classes eight to ten and an elocution competition for PU students.

Writing and painting material was provided free of cost by the CMC. Two students from each school/college were selected to participate in the competition.

The winner of the painting competition will receive Rs. 2,000, the winner of the essay competition will get Rs. 3,000 and the winner of the elocution competition will get Rs. 5,000.

The prizes will be given away on Rajyotsava Day by district in-charge Minister G. Karunakar Reddy.
