BIDAR: Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta on Wednesday said Bidar district had suffered a loss of Rs. 100 crore in the recent rain.

At a meeting, Mr. Gupta said that three persons had lost their lives in the heavy rain and 1,559 “kuchcha” houses damaged partially. Compensation had been disbursed in some cases and other affected people would be given the money in a couple of days, he said. He said that an ex gratia of Rs. 1 lakh had been given to family members of the dead and the additional Rs. 1 lakh compensation from the Union Government would be deposited in their bank amount. Mr. Gupta said that standing crops on about 1,000 acres of land had been damaged in the district owing to torrential rainfall.

District in-charge Minister Revu Naik Belamagi asked the officials to expeditiously complete relief works in the district.
