Chitradurga: Minister for Youth Services, Sports and Textile Goolihatti Shekhar has said the State Government has decided establish a special authority for youth through which it was proposed to address problem of unemployment among youths.

He was speaking after inaugurating the taluk-level youth fair at Lakkihalli village of Hosadurga taluk on Saturday. The fair was jointly organised by the Department of Youth Services, local youth clubs and the gram panchayat.

Mr. Shekhar said that the authority would allot construction work that would cost Rs. 5 lakh to youths and that way address the problem of unemployment.

He stressed on the need to organise youth fairs, their usefulness and their contribution towards preservation of folk arts and culture. Twenty competitions were held for the youth during the fair. The next State-level youth fair would be held in Hosadurga town in January next year, he informed.

Mr. Shekhar said that although the Government grant was Rs. 5,000 for the taluk-level youth fair, the youth clubs, local leaders and the gram panchayat had contributed Rs. 10 lakh to organise the fair.
