HASSAN: Deputy Commissioner Naveen Raj Singh has in a press release here on Thursday said that the State Government has directed the Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation (KFCSC) to purchase paddy, ragi and maize directly from farmers at support price. The release said that purchase centres were inaugurated on Thursday.

Good quality maize was quoted at Rs. 840 per quintal, ragi at Rs. 915 per quintal, paddy at Rs. 900 per quintal, including Rs. 50 as bonus, and A grade paddy at Rs. 930 per quintal, including Rs. 50 as bonus.

Mr. Singh said maize and ragi would be purchased at the APMC Yard in Hassan on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Farmers can contact Ph: 9449969788. Ragi would be purchased at the APMC Yard in Arsikere on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and the contact number Ph: 9844341259. Maize and ragi would be purchased at the APMC sub-market in Gandsi in Arsikere taluk on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and the contact number is Ph: 9448392411. Maize and paddy would be purchased at the Holenarsipur APMC Yard on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and the contact number is Ph: 9448258470. Maize, paddy and ragi would be purchased at the APMC Yard in Chennarayapatna on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and the contact number is Ph: 9448008559.

Paddy would be purchased at Ramanathapura in Arkalgud taluk on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and the contact number is Ph: 9448256445. Maize would be purchased at the APMC Yard in Belur on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and the contact number is Ph: 9448413580. Purchases would be completed by March 31, 2009.
