MYSORE: The Army Recruitment Office (ARC) in Bangalore will organise a four-day recruitment rally in Mandya from January 2 for men in the age group of 17 to 23.

Those appearing for the rally should be the permanent residents of Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, Kolar, Tumkur, Mandya, Mysore, Chamarajnagar, Ramanagara and Chickballapur districts.

The rally to be organised under the aegis of Headquarters Recruiting Zone in Bangalore and Recruiting Office (HQ), Bangalore, is for enrolment in categories of soldier general duty, soldier technical, soldier clerk/store keeper technical, soldier nursing assistant, soldier general duty (non-matric), soldier tradesmen for the Indian Army and for re-enrolment of ex-servicemen into Defence Security Corps (DSC) as soldier general duty.

Col. Anil Nautiyal, Director, Headquarters Recruiting Zone, Bangalore, told presspersons here on Thursday that those keen on joining the Army should start preparing themselves for the rally as they had to run 1.6 km in six minutes and 20 seconds. In addition, they had to pass in “zig zag” balance and nine feet ditch conducted by an independent team of officers.

“The recruitment procedure will be transparent, fair and merit-based,” he said.

Successful candidates had to report for physical measurement and medical examination conducted by three Army Medical Corps officers, he said.

Those declared fit would be given “admit card” for the common entrance test.

He said that those declared unfit during medical examination would be permitted to take a review by specialists in the army hospitals. Temporary unfit candidates would be given 42 days and permanent unfit candidates 21 days for completion of review by the specialists.

Col. Nautiyal appealed to the people not to be misled by the touts as the recruitment process was foolproof and transparent.

He said that no application form was required for participating in the rally. With the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission, the monetary benefits of army men had increased substantially.
