MYSORE: The Government Pre-University College situated on People’s Park premises in Mysore will soon have two classrooms built for its students at a cost of Rs. 15 lakh by a U.S.-based philanthropic organisation.
One School At A Time (OSAAT) of the U.S., which chose the Government PUC college for Women at People’s Park for its largesse, will have the project implemented in association with Rotary West, Mysore.
The city-based club will be given the responsibility of overseeing the construction of the classrooms.
The former head of the Government PUC College for Women, People’s Park, Seetharama Rao, and his industrialist brother K.V. Murthy had apparently taken the initiative to impress OSAAT to construct classrooms for the college.
Chairman of the college’s betterment committee and MLA H.S. Shankarlinge Gowda performed the “Guddali Puja” for the construction of the classrooms here on Thursday.
Mr. Gowda said the Government had sanctioned a Rs. 1.2-crore project for construction of a new college building.
The Government had released Rs. 30 lakh in the regard, he said.
