Bangalore: Carrying handbags, water bottles, mobile phones, cameras and umbrellas might deprive you of witnessing Independence Day celebrations to be held at Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade Ground even if you have a valid invitation.

Yes, the city administration and the police have banned carrying of these items inside the parade ground in view of the serial blasts that rattled the city recently. Briefing the media about the arrangements for Independence Day celebrations, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner S. Subramanya said that invitees would not be allowed inside if they were carrying banned items in view of security reasons.

Meanwhile, both the Bangalore urban and city district administrations, for the first time, had put in place an elaborate disaster management plan to tackle any emergency situation, said Mr. Subramanya.

As many as 20 ambulances with doctors and paramedical staff would be positioned near Mayo Hall besides positioning three hi-tech ambulance units at the parade ground. Around 300 beds have been booked in hospitals.

Also, a closed circuit television has been installed in and around the ground.

Additional Commissioner of Police M.R. Pujar said that extra security forces had been deployed.
