BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday stayed for eight weeks the award of tender for the Rs. 49-crore Outer Ring Road (ORR), with approaches to road under-bridge between Mysore Road and Magadi Road.

Justice N. Kumar passed the order on a petition filed by East Coast Construction.

The company had challenged the award of tender to Nagarjuna.

In its petition, East Coast said that the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) had on January 23, 2008, called for tenders to take up the ORR project between Mysore Road and Magadi Road. On March 17, 2008, East Coast said it had submitted its tender.

Disqualified

On April 17, East Coast said that it came to know that its tender had been disqualified.

It said though it had sought to know the reasons why its tender was not accepted, the BDA had not responded so far.

The company urged the court to stay the tender. Justice N. Kumar, in his interim order, stayed the tender process.

He ordered issue of notices and adjourned further hearing on the case.
