Bangalore: Demanding a halt to the metro work, people from green organisations staged a protest in front of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. here on Saturday. They held placards that read “Follow Town and Country Planning Laws”, “Involve Public”, “Stop before it is too late”.

Vinay Sreenivasa, an activist with Hasiru Usiru, told The Hindu that neither was the comprehensive plan of the metro nor details of the stations, sub-stations, work stations or any other stations ever available in the public domain.

“Although a number of applications have been filed under the Right to Information, petitions filed and protests staged, the metro officials do not seem to be transparent or interested in providing information to the public,” he said.

Mr. Sreenivasa said the work must be stopped now and the Government must explore better alternatives.
