School councils take charge school notes

BANGALORE: The Jain International Residential School, Kanakapura Road, held its investiture ceremony on Tuesday when the School Student Management Council took over duties after an impressive parade.

The function began with a ceremonial parade, with 600 children in blazers holding their respective house-flags and marching past the chief guest. It was followed by an oath-taking ceremony. Head boy Rohit Mundra and head girl Vishani Kankariya, along with house captains, took oath.

Air Commodore Ravi Dhar, AOC, Air Force Station, Yelahanka, was the chief guest. He told the children to imbibe the values of discipline which would pave the way to a strong future. Wg. Cdr. K. L. Ganesh Sharma, chief executive officer of the institution and Wg. Cdr. Ajay Kumar Jha, executive director, Jain Academy of Sporting Excellence, were present.

At Rashtriya Military School

The Rashtriya Military School conducted its investiture ceremony with Brigadier P.S Ravindranath, Commander, Karnataka and Kerala Sub Area, as the chief guest. Colonel S. Kemparaj, Col (GS) was also present. In his address, the commander told the cadets that service in the Army was not a profession but a way of life. The quality of life offered by the defence forces was unparalleled, he added. He also told the cadets to develop leadership qualities while learning at school. Cadet Bikram Singha was elected school captain, while Cadet Niranjan was elected school adjutant. Cadet Vishwajit was chosen sports captain.

At Premier High School

The Premier High School, Srirampuram, conducted its investiture ceremony recently. The elected members of the school cabinet received their badges from the headmistress. Ashish Jain was elected head boy, while Ananya. A., the head girl. Deepak and Kalashree were the elected cultural secretaries. Deepak. A., and Poongodi were elected sports secretaries.

The MarianMarian Primary and Middle School, Millers Road, conducted elections for the school cabinet to make students understand the nitty-gritty’s of the electoral process.

Exercise franchise

Students exercised their franchisee to choose their school captain, vice-captain and house captains. Rayna John was elected school leader, while Yogitha. R., deputy leader. Kajol, Keerthana Dinesh, Priyanka Maithi, Nividha, Deepika, Shilpa, Hifsa Naseem and Vidyashree were elected captains and vice-captains of various houses.

Prize Day at Baldwin’s

Baldwin Girls’ High School, Richmond Road, held its senior prize day recently. On the day, the school evaluated and brought to light those achievements it members as a community managed to achieve, with the cooperation of all stake-holders.

The programme commenced with the School Hymn by the School Choir followed by an invocation by Rev. Moses Mamdapur, Senior Pastor, Indiranagar Methodist Church. Principal Indira Williams read out the school annual report. She highlighted the achievements of the school and said that 44 students scored above 90 per cent in the ICSE examinations. The students of the school then enacted a Hindi play based on the eradication of superstitious beliefs prevalent in society.

A Kannada dance was presented by the students highlighting the richness of Karnataka, the glorious reign of the Vijayanagar Empire, and envisioning the State as a nation which would soon place itself as a forerunner — politically, economically and socially. The performance left the audience spellbound.

Addressing students, Giri Balasubramaniam of Grey Caps India and an established quiz master urged them to learn from failures. He also gave away prizes to the students. Simran Makhija, Ranjita Kumar, Anna Mani, Afraa Maryam and Apoorva. M., received efficiency cups.
