MYSORE: The foundation stone for the temple dedicated to Gandhari, mother of the Kauravas of the Mahabharatha, was laid by Sri Vishveshwara Teertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math at Hebbya village in Nanjangud taluk on Thursday.
The project is being initiated by Akhila Vishwa Bharatiya Seva Samaja, Karnataka unit.
Speaking after performing the guddali puja, the swamiji said that the concept of a temple for Gandhari was unique and would be a testimony to her devotion and loyalty as she epitomised the goodness of a mother and a loving wife.
Rs. 2.5 crore cost
The president of the samaj, A. Amitabh, said apart from the temple, a healthcare centre would also be established in the village. The temple is expected to cost Rs. 2.5 crore, while the modern healthcare unit will cost around Rs. 40 crore, said Mr. Amitabh.
