It will start functioning from this academic year
HUBLI: All-India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, has given permission to KLE Society, Belgaum, to open KLE Institute of Technology in Hubli from this academic year.
In a press release issued here on Saturday, Ashok Shettar, life-member of KLE Society and principal of BVB College of Engineering and Technology, said the new college would be affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.
The new college would offer courses in computer science and engineering, electronics and communication engineering, electrical and electronics engineering and information science and engineering. The intake for each course was 60, he said.
Mr. Shettar said that the KLE Institute of Technology had been listed in the seat matrix of CET counselling to begin on June 16. Students could get admissions in the new college from the first round of counselling. Mr. Shettar said that work on infrastructure required for first year engineering students had been completed and faculty members had been appointed.
Prabhakar Kore, chairman of KLE Society, and S.I. Munavalli, director, said the new college would help students of north Karnataka, especially from Hubli-Dharwad and surrounding areas, in taking up technical education.
The KLE Society has received permission from AICTE to open another engineering college at Chikkodi in Belgaum district from the current academic year. KLE College of Engineering and Technology will be affiliated to VTU, Belgaum.
The college will offer courses in computer science and engineering, electronics and communication engineering and information science and engineering.
