Incident occurred when he had gone out to have coffee with a friend
BANGALORE: Two persons stabbed a 27-year-old call centre employee when he had gone to drink coffee with a friend near Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology on Thursday. Delay in getting medical aid resulted in his death.
According to the police, Shashidhar, a native of Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh, returned from work around 11 p.m. to his paying guest (PG) accommodation near Jala Bhavan, which is just 200 metres from his workplace on Bannerghatta Road.
Shashidhar and his friend Mallikarjun watched a movie till 1 a.m. after which both went out on another friend’s motorcycle to have coffee. Shashidhar stopped the motorcycle near a person who was selling coffee. Even as they were having coffee, two persons pounced on Shashidhar and started assaulting him.
Seeing this, Mallikarjun ran to the PG accommodation for help.
He returned with three others only to find Shashidhar lying unconscious on the pavement.
Shashidhar was brought to his room while the friends went looking for a doctor. When they did not find one, they took him to Sagar Apollo Hospital where he was declared dead around 1.30 a.m.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Soumendu Mukherjee said the wound found on Shashidhar’s chest appeared to have been caused by an object similar to a screw driver.
“We are yet to get more details from Mallikarjun and his friends, who are yet to recover from the shock.” He said the police are investigating whether it was a premeditated attack or one for gain.
