BANGALORE: Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Kapil Sibal on Saturday exuded confidence that the Congress would secure a majority in the elections to the Legislative Assembly.

“I am hopeful of Congress securing majority of seats in the elections,” he said.

He told presspersons that the Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Dal (Secular ) were equally responsible for creating political instability in the State.

The Janata Dal (Secular) and the BJP formed an “unholy alliance” for the sake of power and did not take any step to accelerate the economic growth.

The two parties owe an explanation for coming together and later parting ways in November last year.

There was no meeting of minds for the BJP and the Janata Dal (S) and just for the sake of power they joined hands, Mr. Sibal alleged.

Only the Congress stood for growth with equity, he said and expressed confidence of the party coming to power on its own in the coming elections.

Asked about the list of party candidates, Mr. Sibal said the first list would be released in two days and the second by April 17.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president M. Mallijkarjun Kharge was present.
