Efforts on to set right problems in Youth Congress: State unit chief

HUBLI: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is likely to start his five-day tour of Karnataka before the month-end from north Karnataka, probably from Hubli or Dharwad.

Addressing presspersons here on Friday, Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress president Krishna Byre Gowda said that Mr. Rahul Gandhi would spend at least three-days in north Karnataka. The objective of his visit was to get first-hand information on Karnataka. Details of his visit would be finalised soon.

Mr. Byre Gowda clarified that the tour of Mr. Rahul Gandhi had not been organised keeping in mind the coming Assembly elections in the State. Mr. Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the State was part of his all-India tour. The Youth Congress was in the process of identifying young leaders who had the potential of becoming Congress candidates for the coming elections.

On the differences in the youth wing of the Congress, he said all political parties faced such a problem and the youth wing was no exception. Efforts were on to set them right, he added. On complaints of interference in the affairs of the Youth Congress by senior leaders, especially in Dharwad district, he said no senior leader would prevent a Youth Congress activist from taking up a responsibility in organisational matters of the party.
