It is said that a few north Indian students of the college had assaulted some local students. The students had complained to the police about this.
When the police came to the hostel on Wednesday a few residents threw stones at them and assaulted them.
Two police personnel were injured in the incident.
After the incident, the students staged a protest to draw the attention of the college management on the issue.
The students who were allegedly assaulted said, “Inmates of the hostel have created a tense atmosphere. They have been assaulting local students for the last three days. As many as 10 students had sustained injuries.”
They blamed the college management for “delaying” action against the “troublemakers”. The students have decided to boycott their classes until the college management initiates action against the accused.
