GULBARGA: The All-India Banjara Seva Sangha and theRashtriya Lambani Vikas Dal will host the 269th Jayantotsava of Seva Lal Maharaj, the religious head of the Banjara community, here on March 30.

Addressing presspersons here on Sunday, secretary of the All-India Banjara Seva Sangha and Opposition leader in the zilla panchayat Subash Rathod and senior leader of the Rashtriya Lambani Vikas Dal Namdev Rathod said that senior leaders from all political parties would be invited to the jayantotsava, which would be a non-political event. Prominent among those who would participate in the celebrations include Jagadguru of the Banjara Samaj Ramarao Maharaj and leaders of the community from Karnataka and neighbouring States. Mr. Rathod said that the jayantotsava would be a show of strength of the Banjara community in the district and the State. In Gulbarga district, there were around 580 tandas (hamlets), predominantly inhabited by members of the Banjara community. About 50,000 people from these tandas would participate in the jayantotsava. The population of the community in Gulbarga district is 3.8 lakh.
