K.M. Shivalinge Gowda, Arsikere MLA, who was earlier convicted by the Arsikere JMFC court for violation of the model code of conduct in 2009, was acquitted by the District and Sessions court in Hassan. The JMFC court had sentenced him to one year imprisonment in December 2012 on the charge that he offered food to voters at Banavara during campaigning for the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.
