Training programme

Buoyance Bhoomi project, which began a year ago, has successfully trained 19 girls from economically weaker sections who could not study after SSLC, in basic computer knowledge, English conversation, tele talk, accounting and other skills.

This year's programme takes a limited number of girls for which interviews would be held on October 30.

Art of Living course

The Art of Living is hosting a special advanced meditation (Art of Living Part II) course in Kannada at its headquarters from October 31 to November 4. The five-day residential course to be conducted in the presence of Sri Sri Ravishankar is open for those who have already completed Part I course. Film festival

The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in association with the Films Division of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is hosting a film festival on Indian classical music and dance on October 28 on its premises.

Eminent musician R.K. Srikantan will inaugurate the festival in which over 20 documentary films would be screened. Admission to the festival is free.

BDA recovers property

The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) recovered property worth Rs. 3 crore at Bilekanahalli Dollars Layout on Thursday. In an early morning operation, four RCC shops, 2 AC sheet sheds and one advertisement hoarding, which had come up without permission on two sites measuring 40 X 95 ft. each on survey no. 172/2A were brought down.

B.S. Sudhindra took over as Regional Director for Karnataka and Goa region of the Indira Gandhi National Open University on October 18. Prof Sudhindra joined IGNOU in 1989.
