`We're committed to improving services in government hospitals'

Bangalore: The State Government plans to appoint 500 doctors to improve medical services, especially in rural areas of the State, Minister for Health and Family Welfare R. Ashok said here on Saturday.

Speaking after inaugurating the third all-India conference of regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, `STEM 2006', Mr. Ashok said the Government was committed to improving the medical services in government hospitals. He said that professionalism in medical services was the need of the hour. The two-day conference sponsored by the Vivus Heart Care group, Cryo Stemcell and S.R. Biotechnologies, is being attended by about 200 experts from the field of regenerative medicine and stem cell technology from India and abroad.
