Bijapur: A delegation of the Grape Growers’ Association met Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa in Bangalore recently and appraised him of the misery of grape growers, who incurred huge losses due to untimely rainfall two months ago. Association president B.M. Kokare informed Mr. Yeddyurappa that observers of both State and Central teams had submitted reports putting the losses at Rs. 500 crore. They had also given an assurance that substantial relief would come through the natural calamity fund. Mr. Kokare appealed to the Chief Minister to announce a special package and release the compensation. Mr. Yeddyurappa assured the delegation that he would discuss the matter with the officers concerned and take the necessary steps. — Staff Correspondent
