Karwar: The District Headquarters' Working Journalists Association (DHWJA) of Karwar has requested the Chief Minister to appoint a full-time District Information Officer here. The DHWJA brought to the notice of the Chief Minister that the Information Officer of Haveri was holding additional charge of Karwar, creating problems for presspersons here.

The DHWJA held a meeting on Saturday and discussed the working mechanism at the office of the District Information Office here. It expressed unhappiness over the functioning of some officials of the Information Department. The association decided to bring the problems to the notice of the Chief Minister and Information Minister by personally meeting them. The present Information Officer visited Karwar once a week, and despite having computer and Internet facility at the office, staff were not providing journalists with photos and news, they complained. Handwritten news reports were being provided, which should be stopped, it demanded.
