'Do not cancel visit to Udupi for Paryaya festival'

Udupi: MLA K. Raghupati Bhat on Monday urged Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh and Deputy Chief Minister M.P. Prakash not to cancel their visit to Udupi for the Paryaya festival.

It will send a wrong signal to the State if Mr. Singh and Mr. Prakash cancelled their visit on an appeal by the organisation "Sri Krishna Mutt Rakshana Samiti", he said.

Addressing presspersons, Mr. Bhat said the samiti had met Mr. Singh and Mr. Prakash on Monday in Bangalore and urged them not to attend the Paryaya festival. The samiti wanted the State Government to take over the Sri Krishna Mutt. Special package sought

Mr. Bhat said the Udupi City Municipal Council (CMC) and the Paryayotsava Committee met the Chief Minister and urged him to release a special package of Rs. 3 crores for development works in Udupi for the Paryaya festival.
