Bangalore: Hundreds of anganwadi workers and helpers on Monday gathered in front of the Bangalore Urban Zilla Panchayat office, urging the State Government to concede to their long-pending demands. Demands of anganwadi workers include introduction of pension scheme for anganwadi workers and helpers on the lines of the scheme prevailing in Maharashtra. The workers are also demanding regularisation of their services and payment of minimum wages.

“When Maharashtra has introduced the pension scheme, I do not see any reason why it should not work for Karnataka,” said G.R. Shivashankar, president of Karnataka State Anganwadi Workers’ Federation.
