He holds emergency meeting on poll preparations

Deputy Commissioner of Haveri V. Anbukkumar, who took charge on Thursday, directed officials to depute additional personnel for election duties, wherever necessary.

The new Deputy Commissioner held an emergency meeting on Thursday soon after taking charge and verified the poll preparations made by the district administration.

Details sought

At a meeting in which Additional Deputy Commissioner G. Jagadish and zilla panchayat chief executive officer Umesh Kusugal were present, Mr. Anbukkumar sought details of various arrangements made for the May 5 Assembly elections.

Subsequently, the Deputy Commissioner issued orders for the appointment of a flying squad, and surveillance, video surveillance and videographers’ teams.

He appointed Assistant Commissioner D.N. Satish as the nodal officer for keeping tabs on election-related malpractices.

He ordered setting up of a control room to receive complaints of election malpractices. Mahesh Doddannavar (9986751706) and Raju S. Mensagi (9844387356) could be contacted for any complaints, he said.

Takes charge

Earlier, Mr Anbukkumar formally took charge as the Deputy Commissioner. Prior to his posting in Haveri, he was the Managing Director of Mysore Minerals Ltd.
