HOSPET: Confusion in the minds of voters in the Vijayanagar constituency with regard to who the official candidate of the BJP is, ended with Anand Singh, a mine owner, filing his papers along with the “B” form here on Tuesday.

Mr. Singh, accompanied by former Minister B. Sriramulu, and BJP leader G. Janardhan Reddy, came in a procession to the Assistant Commissioner’s office to file his papers. Party leader Bharamalingana Gowda was also present.

Confusion had prevailed when Mr. Bharamalingana Gowda, and Mr. Singh began door to door campaigns seeking votes separately, as in the first list the BJP had initially chosen to field Mr. Gowda.

When Mr. Singh, who was popular and well-known, joined the BJP, his name was recommended, Mr. Reddy told presspersons.
