The Bangalore chapter of the Alumni Association of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, took out a rally here on Saturday protesting against the undue delay in the appointment of director to the premier institute.

In a press release, the association said IIT-Kharagpur has been functioning without a director for over a year. It alleged that Partha Pratim Chakrabarti, has not been allowed to assume office.

The release also claimed protests were staged by IIT-Kharagpur alumni simultaneously in Delhi and Mumbai. Utkal Mohanti, association president, said Prof. Chakrabarti was an inspiring teacher, who has published international papers, and an able administrator.
