Mysore Grahakara Parishat has urged the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to instruct all telecom companies to bring out telephone directories.

At an interaction meeting here on Monday, MGP activists said only Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. was bringing out telephone directories. “All telecom companies should be told to put their subscriber directories on the Internet. Subscribers can be charged for this,” a release from MGP said. Information on public utilities such as railways, municipal corporations, and bus services could not be accessed from non-BSNL telephones using three or four-digit numbers. This should be rectified, they suggested.

“The BSNL gives discount to customers making use of e-bill and e-payment systems. But some other service providers are not providing such discounts,” they said. Automatic complaint redressal systems employed by telecom companies were not consumer-friendly, they added.
