Preparations are on at a brisk rate for celebrating Sankranti festival in and around Bellary.
Undeterred by the rise in prices, people, especially women, were buying vegetables, flowers, sugarcane and foodgrains to prepare various food items during the festival on Monday. Meanwhile, the local unit of Andhra Kala Samiti had organised a rangoli competition on Sunday.
The competition was held exclusively for women on the premises of the Municipal School here. A couple of girls, who had used leafy vegetables and fruits to draw the rangoli attracted the appreciation of all visitors.
