Bangalore Urban district Deputy Commissioner M.K. Aiyappa, against whom two FIRs (first information reports) have been filed by the Lokayukta police, was transferred on Thursday. G.C. Prakash, Managing Director, Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Corporation, has been posted in his place.

Mr. Aiyappa’s new posting is as Deputy Commissioner of Bangalore Rural district.

His transfer comes close on the heels of that of Lokayukta City Superintendent of Police P.K. Shivashankar, who was also embroiled in a controversy along with Mr. Aiyappa.

Of the two FIRs registered against Mr. Aiyappa one pertains to a complaint filed before the Special Lokayukta court alleging that Mr. Shivashankar leaked the information to Mr. Aiyappa after a complaint was received against the Deputy Commissioner. In the other FIR, Mr. Aiyappa’s name figures along with that of Yelahanka legislator S.R. Vishwanath for allegedly granting 32 acres and 4 guntas of government land, valued around Rs. 32 crore, to a private person in Madappanahalli village in Hesarghatta hobli.

It was given following a revision petition filed by one Narasimiah before Mr. Aiyappa who claimed ownership of the land parcel.
