Air Marshal S.R.K. Nair took charge as the Senior Air Staff Officer, Headquarters Training Command, here on Monday.
Prior to this, he was the Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Personnel Airmen and Civilians) and Assistant Chief of Air Staff Operations (Transport and Helicopters) at Air HQ. Among his achievements are flying the Indian aircraft IL-76 to the North Pole and back, circumnavigating the globe and playing a key role in starting flights at Daulat Beg Oldi, the world’s highest airstrip.
He was also involved in operations in Sri Lanka, Maldives and Kargil.
As the second-in-command of the HQ Training Command, Air Marshal Nair’s responsibilities include training officers, airmen and non-combatants of the Air Force.
