Rehearsal goes off like clockwork; most teams raring to go

Bangalore: The full dress rehearsal for the main air display at Aero India 2007 went off like clockwork. It was synchronised effort that saw aircraft flying in from airfields as far away as Goa.

The massive IL-38 maritime patrol aircraft of the Indian Navy and the IL-78 mid-air refuelling tanker came from Goa while the Jaguar formation came from HAL Airport along with the three LCA Tejas's, flying in formation.

The flights of the aircraft were timed to the second as they passed over Yelahanka Air Station. Then it was time for the aerobatics aircraft to take centre stage.

The highlight was seeing the Sarang helicopter team back in action but they flew only the three remaining choppers after one was destroyed in last week's tragic accident. The Surya Kiran Aerobatics Team (SKAT) did its trademark display. There was some heavy-duty action when the American C-17 Globemaster demonstrated some nimble manoeuvring.
