Members of the Bellary Bar Association on Thursday boycotted the court in response to a call given by the Advocates' Association, Bangalore, in protest against the alleged police atrocities on advocates during the violence at the City Civil Court complex in Bangalore on March 2. They will continue the boycott on Friday.

In a memorandum addressed to the Governor and the Chief Minister, the association members have demanded that Director-General of Police Shankar Bidri and Bangalore City Police Commissioner Jyoti Prakash Mirji be placed under suspension. They have sought the resignation of Home Minister R. Ashok and Law Minister S. Suresh Kumar.

The advocates have criticised the media for what they described as one-sided video coverage of the incident.
