Armed men robbed an actor’s family of valuables worth Rs. 8 lakh at knifepoint on Sunday. The actor, identified as Harsha, has acted in a few Kannada films and tele serials.
According to the police, Harsha and his family were having dinner keeping the front door open when armed men barged into the house and threatened them with lethal weapons. Brandishing a knife, the men ordered the family not to raise an alarm, and part with their valuables. Within minutes, the armed men ransacked the house and made away with the valuables before locking the family in a room.
Harsha informed his relatives about the incident, but the armed men had fled the scene by the time help came by.
The Jnanabharati police registered a case of robbery.
The Central Crime Branch police arrested a man and recovered from 10 grams of heroine worth Rs. 30,000.
The police identified the arrested as Abbas Ali (25), a resident of Shantinagar.
Abbas Ali allegedly sold drugs to college students. He was picked up in front of a hotel near the Hockey Stadium while he was waiting for his clients.
The Central Crime Branch sleuths arrested two persons involved in over 14 robbery cases in the city.
Sameer Sayyad (26) and Asadulla Jafri (30) from Kalyan, Mumbai, are part of the seven-member gang who used to target elderly persons in and around the city, and rob their gold valuables masquerading as police personnel. The police recovered 400 grams of gold valuables and two motorcycles from them. Efforts are on to nab the other five persons who are on the run.
