HASSAN: The residents of Chennarayapatna taluk appealed to the tahsildar to take action against harassers who followed their daughters and hurled abuses at them. They also identified six locations where harassment was most common.

Residents, through a memorandum to the tahsildar Varaprasad Reddy, said on Friday said that the menace made it difficult for women students to attend classes. The harasserswaylaid their victims at hotels and bakeries. The matter had been reported to the police, but little action had been taken. Dr. Reddy said that he had visited the places listed and directed the owners of these establishments to disallow the harassers to loiter on the premises. He said raids would be conducted to curb the menace.
