Members of the Uttara Kannada Zilla Panchayat on Tuesday objected to the absence of the district level officers in the general meeting of zilla panchayat.

The members expressed their unhappiness during the general body meeting about the behaviour of the officials and demanded stern action against them.

Members Mankalu Vaidya and Pushpa Naik raised the matter in the meeting and said the district heads of the forest, Public works, KSRTC HESCOM, and some other departments remain absent during every meeting and send juniors to attend the meeting. These junior officials do not attend the meeting with the necessary information and misguide the members they said.

In absence of the Uttara Kannada Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer, Deputy Commissioner B. N. Krishnaiah presided over the meeting. He assured the members he would instruct the senior and responsible officers to attend meetings. The officials should avail the permission of zilla panchayat before skipping the meeting in future, he said.

Many members said the resolutions passed in the zilla panchayat meetings were not being implemented by the officials and some officials do not care to take suggestion of zilla panchayat in some important matters. The members threatened to boycott meeting if this continued .
