The launch of the Aadhaar-linked direct cash transfer scheme for domestic LPG subsidy in Mysore district on a pilot basis has been put off again.

The launch, first planned for January 1, had been postponed to February 15. Now, this too has been put off for now, Unique Identification Authority of India authorities told The Hindu .

The decision was taken as the bank accounts of all LPG consumers, approximately 5.2 lakh in the district, were not yet linked to Aadhaar. Besides, although nearly 98 per cent of the district has been enrolled under Aadhaar, not all consumers had the 12-digit unique identification number. So, the launch had to be put off, an official from UIDAI said.

UIDAI officials added that they were working to solve technical issues to ensure faster distribution of Aadhaar cards.
