Samarthanam, a non-governmental organisation working to empower those with disabilities, in association with the Karnataka Sports Association for the Physically Handicapped, organised a walkathon for those with disabilities, on Saturday.

The 3.5-km walkathon, which began at the Kittur Rani Chennamma Stadium, saw overwhelming participation by students, corporates, NGOs, members of the Rotary and Lions Clubs.

The event was held to raise funds for persons with disabilities and to spread the word about the T20 Blind World Cup, scheduled to take place in the city in December.
