Those looking for products from cottage industries are in for a treat as Khadi Utsava starts on Friday. The month-long exhibition at Freedom Park will feature khadi and cottage industry products from across the country.

The event is being organised by Karnataka State Khadi and Gramodyoga Board (KSKGB). The entry fee is Rs. 10 per person. On display would be products made out of cotton, wool and polyester on which a special rebate of 35 per cent has been announced while silk khadi will carry a rebate of 20 per cent.

For the youth, designer khadi products will be available. Cottage industry products, such as wood carvings, furniture, coir products, pottery, hand bags, handmade paper, natural honey, ghee and other herbal products would also be available.

The last time such a national–level Khadi Utsava was held in Bangalore was in 2008.

KSKGB Chief Executive Officer L. Radhakrishna told presspersons on Wednesday that 15 States have confirmed participation and the event would have about 340 stalls. Participants include about 240 organisations from Karnataka. “We are expecting about four lakh visitors and a turnover of about Rs. 14 crore during the event,” he said.
