CFTRI gives away awards, medals, scholarships and certificates
It was a momentous occasion for students of M.Sc. (Food Technology) and Postgraduate Diploma in Flour Milling Technology of the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) who bagged awards, medals, scholarships and certificates here on Thursday.
The premier food technology research institute is celebrating its diamond jubilee.
K. Kasturirangan, member of the Planning Commission, and Chairman of the Karnataka Knowledge Commission, and V.G. Talawar, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore, presented medals and awards to the students at a function organised at the IFFTC auditorium on the CFTRI campus.
Emmanuel Dung Pwasong and P. Arun Prasad bagged the G.K. Jalan Gold Medal and the Dr. S.R. Shurpalekar Gold Medal respectively in the flour milling technology course. Sandeep Nivrutti Panmand received the Delhi Flour Mills Silver Medal and Niraj Subhaschandra Hedda got the Shivaji Roller Flour Mills Bronze Medal.
Kedare Sagar Bhanudasrao bagged the Giridhari Lal Gold Medal and the Nirula's Foundation Award plaque in M.Sc. (Food Technology).
Debabrata Patra, Nirmal Metwal, Malavika Devi K. and Anusuya Borah also bagged medals and awards.
Rinil Kuriakose and Shipra Bhargava bagged the best dissertation and best investigation awards respectively in the food technology course.
Many students received scholarships on the occasion.
CFTRI Director V. Prakash said the students who received medals, awards, scholarships and certificates would be remembered for long as the presentation ceremony was held in the diamond jubilee year of the institute.
He said the interfacing between the Planning Commission, CSIR and CFTRI had always been dynamic and was very similar to that of the relationship between the CFTRI and the University of Mysore in training youngsters.
Dr. Prakash said it was important for the CFTRI to look into ensuring “adequate nutrition for the needy”.
