STRIKING A CHORD: Hindustani vocalist Sujatha Gurav Kammar performing at the 10th monthly music concert organised by Artists Forum in Hubli on Saturday.

The Artists Forum of Hubli is organises classical music concerts, which are popularly known as baithaks, every second Saturday of the month.

The forum is focusing mainly on giving a platform to upcoming artists.

The 10th concert in this series was held at Nagarkar Library Auditorium on Saturday, featuring another budding classical vocalist Sujatha Gurav Kammar.

She started her concert with raag Raageshri. She presented vilambith aayore jeeth and druth banabana bolath koyaliya followed by a Tarana.

The vilambith kyal was short in rendition but sweet. It would have been better had she expanded druth and Tarana a little more. She then presented a bandish by her father Sangameshwar Gurav with ease.

Then she rendered a Hindi bajan and popular Marathi Abhangs Maje Ubha Mangesh and runujunu re bhramara. She is gifted with a powerful voice which rises to the upper octave easily. Her Tayyari in making musical patterns was visible. Sujatha is the daughter and disciple of veteran classical singer Sangameswar Gurav and sister of another senior vocalist Kaivalya Kumar Gurav.

She was accompanied on tabla by her brother Nadikeshwara Guvrav and on harmonium by Badiger.

Subhash Madiman, Artistes Forum president, and senior vocalist Naganath Wodeyar were present.
