To provide an opportunity to all students to showcase their skills at the Rajyotsava celebrations, the Department of Primary and Secondary Education has decided to bring students from across the State to the celebrations in Bangalore on November 1. At a press conference to announce the celebrations to be held at Kanteerava Stadium here, Minister of State for Primary and Secondary Education Kimmane Ratnakar said that 8,000 students will showcase the culture of their region. “We will spend Rs. 75 lakh for their transportation and lodging,” he said. The Minister said that he has sought a report on the status of Urdu schools in the wake of reports that the dropout rate of Muslim students in primary and higher primary classes was high in the State. — Staff Reporter
