All encroachments will be cleared after GP polls: Bache Gowda
HASSAN: Labour Minister B.N. Bache Gowda said that 7.75 lakh acres, belonging to the Revenue and Muzrai departments, gomal lands and tank-beds, were encroached upon in the State.
Of this, 3.4 lakh acres was in Bangalore division, 3 lakh acres in Mysore division, 30,000 acres in Gulbarga division and 1 lakh acres in Belgaum division.
All encroachments would be removed after the gram panchayat elections, he said, addressing presspersons here on Saturday.
The Chief Minister, he said, had given a free hand to deputy commissioners in the State to carry out the task.
Mr. Gowda said that in Hassan district, the competition was mainly between the Janata Dal (S) and Bharatiya Janata Party. He claimed that the Congress was a divided house in the State.
There was “Deshpande Congress”, “Shivakumar Congress” and “Siddaramaiah Congress”, and the workers were confused about whom to support, he said.
The Minister was confident that the BJP-supported candidates would win 70 per cent of the seats.
